THE BEST BBQ IN COOS BAY! The entire menu was mouthwatering. Mrs. and Little Miss Picky shared the French Dip since it was too much for one. There must have been 8-9 ounces of delicious tender roast beef. Mr. Picky choose the Tri Tip with peppers and onions... a Manly sandwich that came with their incredible BBQ sauce. THE best BBQ sauce we've ever had! Excellent experience all the way! The Picky's highly recommend the 'Monkey Bar' for ones with a sweet tooth.

I can't believe it...the reviews are serious...it's awesome bbq. No ribs, though. We had a brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, a salad...and one each of the desserts. SOOOO glad we happened though town on a Tuesday.

This was seriously the greatest French dip I have ever eaten. Small hole in the wall place in a tiny coastal Oregon town. The amazing smells overtake you when you walk in. I couldn't decide because everything on the menu looked so good, so I just asked the lady at the counter wheat she recommended. She didn't disappoint. Beef was piled 4" high with a strong smoky taste. I would drive the three hours again just to have that sandwich.

This place deserves a 10 ! We never make it here because it is only open tue-fri from 11-3pm. I have had their catering numerous times and it was good . Ate here today and it was the biggest stack of smoked turkey on my sandwich . It was so good ! Hubby had the big dipper and it was loaded with fresh meat. Chips and homemade salsa was better than most Mexican restaurants. I also had a side of coleslaw and it was yummy. This place is small and the parking is akward and limited so to go orders are best. We will be back for sure. I had the bog gobbler !

Had the smokehouse sandwich with bbq sauce. It was on point! Lady at the counter was super nice. Prices are also decent. Only problem is the hours. 11-3... If they were open longer, everyone in north bend would be fat.

Don't let the sketchy exterior fool you. The interior has been tastefully updated and is very pleasant. Service was great. My wife and I both had cold sandwiches, the chikado and the bog hobbler which were both excellent. The sandwiches were served with tortilla chips and fresh salsa that was yummy. Glad we stopped.

We finally ate here after years. Very good sandwiches. My son Quickly downed his pork sandwich, loved it. My wife had the Smokehouse and i had the pulled pork. both were very good. Inside they only have about 4-5 tables in a small setting. Parking is tricky. My guess is lunch is busy. Even at closing we got the last table. We will be back.

Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was better than average. They use alder wood to smoke and it does not give much smoke flavoring. What ever they used for a rub also did not have much flavor. Staff very friendly and fast. The place was packed and they were pretty quick. A couple of things I would suggest the owners do is find a good rub with more flavor and use cherry wood to give it more smoke.

The best BBQ on the west coast! I highly recommend the pulled pork and the tri tip. Cannot come thru coos bay and not stop here. I don't write many reviews but this place deserves to be appreciated by others!!!!

Great little cubby hole with BIG flavors. Everything I've had has been great and I'm almost through the entire menu. They serve tortilla chips with their sandwiches which isn't traditional for BBQ however, the pice de gallo they serve with the chips is the best I've ever had other than mine.

Hidden gem! Brother and I swing by during our road trip to the redwoods and boy oh boy was it delicious! We both got the smokehouse MMMM MMMM good! Meat was perfection, breading was top notch and not to mention every sandwich comes with homemade chips and salsa that was to die for! If you don't stop here while driving though town, you're doing yourself a disservice.

We were going by the reviews and decided to go check it out. I have to say this is the best pulled pork we have ever ate. The BBQ sauce is amazing also. We can't wait to try out the rest of the menu.

The best BBQ I have ever had! I ordered the cue-pit & could have split it with my daufhter. It was huge & super yummy. The BBQ sauce comes on the side with chips & salsa. All very very good! This will be a regular stop for us from now on as we come thru North Bend :)

Awesome sandwiches comprised of meat grilled right outside and homemade BBQ sauce (get some in a jar to take home!). Outstanding friendly service and a great atmosphere. My mouth waters just thinking about the pork! Mmmmmmmmmm!

This is by far one of the best places to eat in the North Bend/Coos Bay Area. Have loved everything I have ever gotten there! Pulled pork with cole slaw on too is amazing! Sandwiches come with chips and amazing homemade salsa!

Just tried the pulled pork at a potluck. Wow, this is the best bbq i have found since i left the South. True bbq is hard to find in Northwest, this maybe my new favorite spot...

Where's the beef? Well, it's at the same place you will find the chicken, turkey and ribs, all deliciously prepared and served up abundantly...namely here at the Alder Smokehouse! For years all they did was cater so if you have driven by the place and didn't know they were open for service, you would just keep on driving by but believe me, they are OPEN for business! My friend and I each had a turkey sandwich. The smoked flavor was present and the meat was stacked deep, so deep that between the turkey and the bun, one could not get a full standard bite and that's not because they just fill up the bread (which is quire delicious on it's own since it's made in North Bend at a small downtown bakery) with veggies, it's because the sandwich is ginormous! Add in a non-traditional side of tortilla chips with a delicious salsa and some BBQ sauce on the side to further enhance the flavor sensations that are coming your way. Caution! This place has a very tiny parking lot on the side with a very dangerous exit and entrance setup. Go park on the edge of the North Bend Lanes parking lot and walk up a couple short blocks to avoid getting clobbered by all the traffic on Virginia. The interior only has seating for 14 and given the amount of people who come in, this place is a prime candidate for relocation. If they decided to move to a much larger place with a decent parking lot, there would be no telling how much more business they would get due to their selling the best sandwiches in town bar none. Subway? A joke. City Subs? Too skimpy. Luigi's? Not even close. Alder Smokehouse runs away with the Biggest & Bestest Bay Area Sandwich Award! After we were done dining, my friend was so happy with their food that he got a whole chicken to go. That'll hold him for a couple days and there should be some scraps left for the cat since that chicken was so big! You had better bring a strong arm to haul one of them home and a big appetite to eat it. How lucky we are to have what would be a top notch sandwich shop with other foodie goodies here that is of the kind one would expect to find in PDX instead of our local area. Many folks came in for orders to go while others dined as we ate. So far it looks like the Alder Smokehouse has been discovered by the customers and after reading this review, you might feel adventurous enough to give them a try and become a regular too! Your belly and tastebuds will thank you.

The Alder Smokehouse stands alone! There is nothing in this area that even compares to it....not by a long way. The French Dip is excellent. You could dislocate your jaw trying to get that first bite. The meat is so flavorful and the au jus is awesome. Very friendly service. Getting in and out of the parking lot can be scary though. But it's worth it. Everyone inside is sighing and oohing and ahhhing as they eat. What better testament !! They just serve lunch and close mid afternoon . Don't pass this place up!

Ok, I am a brisket fiend. I am darn picky about grillin', que'in, and bbq in general. If I give 5 stars, than you are off-the-hook! This company provided the catering for my brother and sister-in-law's recent nuptials. The meal consisted of: Salad Red Potatoes Chicken Brisket Rolls Dressings and Sauce Ok, who cares about the salad? I mean, how bad can you mess up lettuce? On that note, we will skip the rolls and dressings. Ok, I quick note on the potatoes. They were yummy! Cooked just right and seasoned lightly with a garlicky seasoning mixed with herbs (I saw something green in there). The chicken was delicious, the skin was crispy yet allwed you to get to the meat without effort. The meat was moist, tender and well seasoned. No sauce was needed, it stood on it's own. The brisket was a work of art! You could see the smoke ring (light pink ring on the edge) on each slice. The meat was moist, tender and succulent. It was accompanied by by a rich bbq sauce, which I suspect may have not been homemade, but was tasty none-the-less. If you aren't the grillmaster you think you are, or you want some very good smoked goodies for your next soiree, then this is the place for you!

Ate here for the first time Wednesday. We have been missing good barbecue since moving to CB. This place is fantastic! The sandwiches were made with delicious local bread (Hannah Marie's), the meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the sauces were fantastic. All that plus cheery service and we were pleased as punch! Too bad they are just open for lunch.
